Who knew?
Well, I guess my partisan confusion has been resolved, courtesy of Knoxviews proprieter and blogger, R Neal. It has been revealed .. I am a conservative blogger. Only ... I'm not. Not by a long shot.

R Neal recently decided that he wants nothing to do with bloggers that don't toe the "progressive" party line, and post only opinions and ideas he agrees with. Okey doke ... it's his site, his decision. But, of course, that does not mean that no one can criticize that decision. (Seems to be a real point of cognitive disconnect with some "progressives" ... freedom of != freedom from). That's a fight I have neither dog nor interest in right now.
At least I am in good company. But to set the record straight ... I am not a conservative, nor am I a liberal. I can't even totally identify with libertarians, greens, or any other political party. I have varied opinions on various subjects that, in my view, are formed based on logic and reason. Some would be deemed conservative, some liberal, some straight down the middle. I don't choose my associations based on people's political views, and I certainly don't wish ill on anyone just because I disagree with their opinions.
I am in a party of one ... let's say I am a Radical Pragmatic and leave it at that, mmmkay?
So did you make "Trusted User" status? Or do you ride in the back of the bus at KnoxViews?

"Trusted User"?? Heh ... right. I'm practically persona non grata in this blogging community, and I have no idea why. I don't ride in the back of the bus, I get left on the sidewalk choking in the exhaust. I just have this wonderful talent for pissing people off just by my mere existence.

That independent thought process of yours will cause trouble. I have some experience with the same thing.
Isn't it odd that the progressives are the first to conduct a purge? I guess I don't fully understand what progressive means.

If the 'progressive' label is correctly applied, then everyone alive today who isn't Amish or a Luddite is a (technological) progressive. We wouldn't be enjoying such relative comfort and ease, without the gifts our hard-working (and very recent) predecessors gave to us; and I'm just talking about the last, oh, couple hundred years. We're really fortunate to have it so relatively easy, in this country, at this time.
And, it seems that 'progressive' people (in the political sense) would like to unwittingly smash the economic engine that's given us these good things...to me, that's not 'progressivism', it's guilt-driven pandering to those who won't strive to pitch in to keep our system running. These neo-progressives are searching for some kind of utopia that, frankly, we humans won't see at our current level of evolution; we aren't wired as 'gods', we're basically just barely above the evolutionary state of 'animal'.
Face it: our economy (capitalism) is pretty much based on ever-increasing growth, and at times bitter competition(a thing humans are good at doing, against each other, and in some cases, it can be brutal and cutthroat...see 1492, and later). We can control those pure capitalist urges, to a degree, but to go as far as some of these 'progressives' want to go would destroy our economy, and thusly our country, and lifestyle.
We have to sustain some things 'conservatively', if we want to enjoy true 'progressive' progress and civilization...and leave some resources in place for our successors, while we're at it. After all, we're all just predecessors for the next generations.
