The shortest distance between two points? USPS can’t figure it out!
Now, geography was not exactly my strongest subject in school ... and school was a long, long time ago, so I may be a tad fuzzy on the details here. But isn't Lexington, KY north of Knoxville, and Atlanta, GA to the south? And doesn't I-75 connect all three cities?I got an Amazon gift certificate from my affiliate links a couple weeks ago. (Thanks for clicking and shopping, and keep it up!) So, I decide to do a little free shopping. Free stuff is always good. Anyway, I place my order and the next day I received a shipping notice. Goodie! All my items are in Amazon's Lexington warehouse! Fast ship even with the free SuperSaver shipping!
They also sent the tracking number. With that, I go to www.USPS.com and enter it. Not much info there, but Bloglines has a nifty package tracking service now, so I subscribe to the feed and await further updates.
Last night, this was the information available:
July 12, 2005 7:04 am Lexington, KY Electronic Shipping Info Received
July 12, 2005 4:14 am Lexington, KY Acceptance
My package is on the way! Lexington is only 170 miles away so it should not take but a day or two! Yippee!
But wait! Tonight's update:
July 12, 2005 9:16 pm Atlanta, GA Enroute
The USPS transported my package from Lexington right through Knoxville and on to Atlanta, where they will then turn around and bring it back north to Knoxville?!? I hope. They may be planning on taking it on a tour of the southland, maybe Birmingham next? Then over to Savannah? Up to Charleston before coming back west to Knoxville?
Don't get me started on UPS and FedEx ... I can't decide which of the three is the worst.
