Time to get up and DO something!
I've been feeling a little stingy with the Katrina aid. I have but meager financial means ... my employer matched my ARC donation 200%, but it still is a drop in the bucket. I gathered up a bunch of stuff for the family of a co-worker in Biloxi, even purchasing some items like water, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, etc. It still doesn't feel like enough. It's frustrating. I want to do something. Then lo and behold, my opportunity arose .... a local church, the one my parents attend, is accepting 70 evacuee families this week and they are calling for volunteers to help out. Sign me up! I have some flexibility in my work schedule this week, so I will be putting my energy to good use. Red Cross will be training tomorrow evening and the families are expected to start arriving Tuesday. I'm going to charge up the batteries for my digicam, and I hope to shelter-blog some. I hope I can help do some good ...To my readers in Knoxville ... please join me!
