Update ...
In the last round, I was whooped ... plain and simple. I guess poetry about Santa is more popular than rants about dealing with raising a teen-ager with bipolar disorder. Oh well ... it was fun while it lasted. I'm now in an "Elimination" round ... my opponent there, with their entry,
, gets no argument from me. It's one of my favorite soap box topics.
I have had to enable hotlink protection for my site ... it seems that the picture of the Kalat statue is quite popular, many people want to show it on their site too. Problem is, they don't bother to download and then upload to their OWN server space and use their OWN bandwidth to display it ... noooo! They have to use MINE! One such webmaster responded quickly and politely to my request to serve it from his own server. One. The rest basically told me to fuck off. I am
... htaccess can be such a marvelous tool.
God I hope none of my managers at work reads this ... I interviewed for another job today.
Actually it was my second interview ... this was the one they call you back for if they are
really interested. I had sent my resume in on the spur of the moment ... I had been having a really bad time at work. Anyone that works in any kind of sales job knows all to well the dry spells that hit, hot leads turn to ice in no time, every customer is obnoxious, clueless or just plain psycho.
I had a dry spell that lasted close to two weeks ... long enough to totally blow my confidence, knock my "numbers" into the cellar and set my managers to wondering what the hell is wrong with me. I even had to leave work early one day because I was close to freaking out from the massive frustration.
So I zap off my resume to this other company ... it's more money, lots more. At least to start, until training is over and then it goes to a lower base salary, but incentives (aka bonus) kicks in ... IF you are good. And sell a lot. It's in a not-so-nice part of town, the kind where I would be nervous walking to my car at night.
They liked me ... I would be coming in with experience and several licenses, so I would be ahead of the game. I'm sure I could do well here, at least as well as where I am at now.
As with most big decisions, I look for signs to point me to the right choice. After my first interview, my ten year old car broke down and I had to replace the alternator. The starter was replaced two weeks ago. I need a better car. But I can't afford payments right now. A sign? Pretty obvious to me.
So after my second interview today, I go into work and have the best day I have had in a long, long time. I made more sales
today than I did in all of the last two weeks! And it was a short day because I came in late!
*sigh*
What to do .... what to do ....
And in other news ... I am working on a new layout for this site. I love the look and feel of it, and I learned some nifty, yet subtle CSS tricks to use. It looks mah-velous in IE, but it fails in Moz/NS and Opera. If anyone can tell me why the right side bar insists on falling out of the main div box, I would love to hear it ... and a solution! My test site is

Wish you the best, which ever way you go!
