Oh ... Really?

On a new host

It appears that the migration to the new host has finally completed. If you are seeing this post, the DNS updates for my domain have completed too. Though it was not without much gnashing of the teeth, snarling, swearing and weeping ... I don't know why I ever expect anything to go smoothly, or even without major complications.

My order set up was delayed ... they say it can take up to 24 hours, more likely they will have it done in 2 to 4. Right. At nearly 26 hours, I submitted a ticket and they finally got it done. Excuse: upgrades to their plans caused a huge increase in the number of orders. Smack down: that should have been anticipated and personnel assigned to handle it.

The site migration got all botched, taking hours longer than it should have, and I had to go in and make the back-up for them. Then I couldn't do that without deleting a crap load of files because I didn't have the disk space. Excuse: they said that my old host had security measures in place that prevented them from using WHM in the cPanel to copy my site over. Smack down: that is bullshit. They had my cPanel log in information, they could have gone in themselves and made the back up. Eventually, that is what they did, but in the meantime, I wasted my Saturday evening fooling around with this.

I got the all-done email and tried to FTP in to check the files. Nope. The user name and password no longer were working. Now, I did request the user name be changed, but I was told to make the request after the migration was completed. Excuse: when the site migrated, the credentials went with it. Smack down: letting me know this earlier would have been such a simple thing to do ... "Your files are migrated, log in now with the user name and password you used at your old host. Let us know if you want to change the user name. The password can be changed from within cPanel" ... how easy would that have been?

Crap. Now I am going to be late for Mother's Day lunch with my parents. Excuse: gotta rant, ya know. Smack down: My mommy still loves me anyway.
