And for God's sake would somebody please explain why these people want us to lose this war?

Yep. Simply put, it's more important to embarrass Bush specifically and Republicans in general than to win the war. They believe things will return to normal if we leave Iraq.

I don't even think they care about embarassing Bush as much as they care about throwing a two-year-old hissy fit and getting what they want at whatever given second... and they'll certainly change their minds again.
Just give them a problem and someone to blame, they're all good.
But after working around the dumbasses on and off for so long, it's no wonder I feel that way.

If any one of the rabid left could see exactly what a defeat would mean to the US, say, 20 years or so down the road, I'm sure...it wouldn't mean a thing! There's so much hate in that crowd; those who claim that Bush and his supporters have Iraqi children's blood on our hands, that we are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, when the truth is that the lives saved will outweigh the lives lost, and if, if we can get a favorable outcome to this thing now, the entire region will face...eventual stability.
The Muslim jihadists, the farthest and mostest radical of Islam's followers, must be forced back. Secular Islamic reformation must be the goal, the as-yet unspoken goal, of all of the free world. Because until that religion is forced to reform, the extremists will use it to recruit new jihadists until they eventually control the entire middle east, lock, stock, and oil. And, we are gluttons for oil; it drives capitalism, which drives our economy, which is our very lives.
That's why we should all look at this war in the context not of immediate sacrifice and loss of life, but the long-term effects of allowing the jihadists a victory.
