Ramblings
BlogMadness 2003 Update ...In the last round, I was whooped ... plain and simple. I guess poetry about Santa is more popular than rants about dealing with raising a teen-ager with bipolar disorder. Oh well ... it was fun while it lasted. I'm now in an "Elimination" round ... my opponent there, with their entry, Media Bias, gets no argument from me. It's one of my favorite soap box topics.
I have had to enable hotlink protection for my site ... it seems that the picture of the Kalat statue is quite popular, many people want to show it on their site too. Problem is, they don't bother to download and then upload to their OWN server space and use their OWN bandwidth to display it ... noooo! They have to use MINE! One such webmaster responded quickly and politely to my request to serve it from his own server. One. The rest basically told me to fuck off. I am returning the sentiment ... htaccess can be such a marvelous tool.
God I hope none of my managers at work reads this ... I interviewed for another job today.

Cookie attack
I'm getting fat ... and it is all my father's fault! Damn him for having a heart attack anyway! So it was a little teeny heart attack. He didn't even know he had it. The doctor found the damage from it on a routine EKG test. So, they do all sorts of testing, up to and including a catheterization. They found a 90% blockage in two of his arteries, so while there, they placed a stent to keep the blood flowing, and hopefully, prevent further infarcts.
Now Daddy, and Mom too, are on heart healthy diets. Low fat, low sodium, low sugar. What sucks is they really love their food. I would go nuts. Anyway, not too long ago, Mom bought this huge (Shedd Spread Country Crock-size) bucket of cookie dough. White chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookie dough. The real stuff .... with butter, eggs, sugar, the whole nine yards. Yummy! But they can't have that kind of stuff anymore, so what does Mom do? She gives it to me.
Great. And I am already toting around several extra pounds these days. (It happens when ya get old and go from an active, physical job to a desk job) I need this cookie dough like I need a hole in my head. My thinking on this is, I need to just go ahead and bake these damn cookies up and get rid of them as soon as possible ... the yummy way. I'll diet later ... no really, I will! And I am washing them down with Diet Coke ... doesn't that count for something?
And besides, Girl Scout cookies will be arriving soon. I'm already obsessing about Thin Mints.

Oh for Pete’s Sake!
Yes, folks ... from right here in beautiful Knoxville, Tennessee we have a woman who claims she was "injured" when she "and others" viewed a bare breast. Oh the tragedy! The horror! Bare flesh! On TV!Terri Carlin wants to make Janet Jackson's bare breast into a federal case.
Carlin filed a proposed class action lawsuit in U.S. District Court Wednesday against Jackson, singer Justin Timberlake, broadcasters MTV and CBS and their parent company, Viacom.
Carlin alleges that she and others who watched the halftime show during Sunday's Super Bowl were injured by the performers' lewd actions when Timberlake ripped off part of Jackson's costume, exposing her breast.
In the lawsuit, Carlin charges that the exposure and "sexually explicit conduct" by other performers during the show injured viewers.
"As a direct and proximate result of the broadcast of the acts, (Carlin) and millions of others saw the acts and were caused to suffer outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury," the lawsuit says.
But Carlin, who works in a bank, doesn't specify the type of injury allegedly suffered.
Now, I am not real thrilled with that little show ... but not because of the bare boob. Those I can deal with. The whole act between JJ and JT was one that depicted violence toward and subjugation of women. That we could use a whole lot less of. But file a lawsuit over it? Get real!
I can only hope that Ms Carlin is laughed out of the courtroom and fined for wasting the court's time and the tax payers' money. Talk about the need to get a freakin life ....

A week away
Two more days at work, then I get a week off! Yay! Darling daugher will be here until Christmas Eve, then she goes to her dad's for Christmas Day. We will be having our big thing on Christmas Eve. Mom and I planned the dinner last night ... I think we have it under controlChristmas shopping ... Ugh! NO I am NOT done! Thanks for NOT asking! I get hives just thinking about hurling myself into the mall madness. I did go out last Saturday and got a few things. I planned it carefully to be out during the dinner hour when most people would be home or at restaurants eating dinner. It wasn't too bad ... except for the nightmare in the Best Buy parking lot. But I did a lot of fruitless running around trying to find a particular gift for my daughter. I finally ordered it online. It hasn't shipped yet ... the freebie thingy it comes with is out of stock. I'm getting nervous.
We cleaned out a bunch of old junk last night, so I could get to the Christmas decoration stuff in the closet in my son's room. Two huge boxes went to the dumpster, now I need to call Goodwill to come pick up six ... yes, SIX trash can bags full of old clothes! And there's still plenty more! I just didn't want to dig that deep into the closet.
I got the tree up with the lights and bead garland. The kids are in charge of putting on the ornaments. Not much done there ... yet. I just ain't into the spirit this year. It's been several years since I really enjoyed the holidays. Maybe I am just getting old.
Click for some bitchin' ...

I’m a bad, bad blogger
Shame on me.Lynne and Sharon are scolding me. I haven't posted anything in almost two weeks.
My life just ain't all that exciting ... which is probably a good thing, all things considered. My son is doing rather well. His bipolar adventures have been the meat of my blogging material ... and, praise God, no recent adventures!
My job is OK .... good news! I made the first tier bonus! 30 sales! Not bad for my second month! My next goal is to make the President's Club ... which requires 50 sales. And I am just now getting the hang of it. Our training was a bit incomplete ... to put it in the kindest terms possible. So we've been flying by the seat of our pants, learning as we go. It can be frustrating though ... the insurance biz is not one to make mistakes in.
Nothing on the dating scene. In fact, just the thought of dating makes me break out in hives. I've gotten used to my nice little hermit life ... me, my kids, my cats. I don't want any intrusions right now. So that's all good.
Kiddo has just returned from terrorizing ... er, trick or treating. Nice haul! I can hardly wait until he goes to bed so I can appropriate the Butterfingers and Reeses Cups! I didn't get home until 7:30 so I missed the little ones that come around early. I still have most of my giveaway candy ... I will have to take it to work to share so I don't eat it all. I'm beginning to look like a Tootsie Roll ... you are what you eat?
Now wasn't this a nice boring post?
