Next spring, I will be 40 years old. Damn ... how the hell did I become an old broad already? Not only do I get to "celebrate" this decade milestone ... the Big 4-0 ... officially "Over the Hill" ... I get to start my annual smashing of the boobs. Yes, folks ... that lovely ritual called the mammogram.

I had one done 5 years ago, to set a baseline. So it won't be like a total surprise. But lemme tell ya ... it ain't my first choice in activities. It's not quite as fun as a Pap smear ... a little less undignified. At least you get to keep your pants on. And no one will know that you didn't shave your legs. But holy shit ... you'd think they'd at least warm up the damn thing they smash your boobs with!

I was blessed (cursed?) with smallish boobies. But they did their job, feeding my three babies. As sweater decorations, they were barely adequate, but at this stage of my life, I am just grateful they are still strangers with my belly button. The men folks that I allowed to get intimate with them had no complaints ... more than a mouthful is a waste, they would say. Heh ... right. Whatever.

So now it's time to take care of them, to make sure they stay healthy in their retirement. So they will get their own check-up every year, along with my cervix ... and the rest of my parts and pieces.

Today kicks off the first day of the Second Annual Blogger Boobie-Thon. Go check out the news and happenings, see the boobie pics that have been submitted (Rated PG-13), make a donation!!! There's rumor of full frontal boobie pics for download for donors of $50 or more. Grab a button for your web site to link back. And if your boobies are as old as mine, call your doctor and schedule a mammogram.

That’s ma girl!

Darling daughter Annie is a cheerleader for her school. During the summer, they went to cheerleading camp and came away with a tubful of awards. The local paper finally had a little blurb about their accomplishments.

JMS cheerleading squad wins awards
The 2003-2004 Jefferson Middle School cheerleaders attended the Universal Cheerleading Association Camp at the University of Tennessee this summer. The squad began preparing for camp in April and it won first place in Home Pom, first in Xtreme Routine and second in Cheer. The girls took home four trophies, all superior ribbons, and a spirit stick.

My baby girl is second from the left in the front row.

Time Warp

I love nostalgia. I love to reminisce about childhood things ... the people, things, places that occupy the furthest reaches and deepest depths of my memories. The triggers that bring these memories forward are sometimes arcane ... a phrase heard, a smell, a snippet of a song. Sometimes, however, they just pop up and are there, in your face and you are time warped back.

I tripped across this today ... anyone younger than about 30, just won't understand.

Step back in time ...

Me ... 15 years ago

In Michelle's Book - Welcome to my life. Do you have an appointment?

I tripped across this blog via the Blogging Bitches webring ... and I am still tripping. If I had the Internet and a Blog 15 years ago, I would be writing about almost the same things Michelle is ... attitude and all! Her rant about the idiots in the Walmart parking lot is MY rant, dammit! My thing is that the idiots follow me from the parking lot into the store and continue to torment me there ... everytime I turn around, the same fucking idiot is in my way again!!!

I laughed, I cried ... go visit Michelle's Life! Don't wait for the movie!

I went to get my nails done yesterday and they were having a special on pedicures. So I went for it. Oooh! I felt so spoiled! They put me in a chair that did that pulse massage thing, and my feet in a whirlpool tub. That would have been plenty to make my day. But the girl also fixed up my little toes and now they are so pretty! Every girl needs to indulge herself every now and then.

Giggle Giggle

OK ... this tickled me. Mostly because it is more like a fiasco that I would find myself in.

The Amazing Disappearing Sound Card

I'm also testing out the TrackBack thingy on here. The above “guilty” party that suffered the DUH moment is on MT. I have found that it is not working right with the B2 blogs. I also have something really weird going on with my Trackback plug-in. Scroll allll the way to the end of the page to see what I mean. *ponder*

*edit* I think I fixed the Trackback thingy ...

The Story of My Life

“Nothing interferes with my concentration. You could put on an orgy in my office and I wouldn't look up. Well, maybe once.” - Isaac Asimov

"Power is the virtue that makes all other virtues possible." - From the movie Enter the Dragon, starring Bruce Lee

Those are two descriptive quotes that define my Enneagram types. I score highest for Type 5, followed closely by Type 8. The Enneagram is an interesting personality typology assessment. It certainly nailed me dead to rights.

The Strength of Spirit

The Strength of Spirit

Sometimes, when you think it's really, really bad ... wherever you are, whatever is going on ... you get a wake-up call. Not to stop feeling sorry for yourself, or be thankful that it's not as bad as someone else's life. Sometimes we need to be reminded to stop, look around and really see what is around us. Yes, I've got it tough. So does Mike. So do lots and lots of other people. Some will hear our stories and think, “Man .. I don't know how they can do it!” Hey, everyone ... we just do it. We take life one day at a time. Just like everyone else. What keeps us going is the little things we take time to notice and enjoy. We stop to smell the roses.
